SOLUTION

The Infomentum team designed, developed, deployed and now support BAE Systems' global website based on Oracle WebCenter and Infomentum Classification Engine (iCE).

We created an extendable framework, meaning that BAE Systems can now easily create new regional websites within 3-4 days; a process which previously took 6 weeks or more. The new site's rich, faceted search function displays various categories and filters for users to select from. Lead generation captured on the website feeds into Marketo through an integration between the two, whilst social media and Google maps integration further bolsters the website’s user journey. The new, responsive design utilises targeted personalisation, ensuring that website users are met with the most relevant content and information for their region.

Besides implementing a strategy for a seamless and secure migration, we also guided BAE Systems through the process, ensuring that they could maintain quality while work continued in the background on making fundamental changes to the IT platform. We continue to host their website on the cloud.

IMPACT

The new site has a consistent look and feel, with one brand persona across the world regardless of location, product or service, or device. It's overseen centrally by the team in the UK, but gives local countries and business units the ability to update and change content when they like - in their language. Our support has proved integral in training the internal team at BAE to manage the site and pass on their knowledge to the teams around the world.

The new site more accurately reflects BAE Systems’ success, culture and innovations. They now have total control over their online image and, as their teams around the world continue to generate engaging and powerful content, they’ll continue to represent their market leading position online as well as off. Most importantly, the BAE Systems site is a far more robust and secure service commensurate with a major global business.

DEEP DIVE

In the first phase, we designed and developed a new consolidated website on Oracle WebCenter Content, bringing together a huge amount of information from a many sources. We also implemented Infomentum's content classification product, iCE (Infomentum Classification Engine), to categorise content using taxonomies, for better advanced searches.

Phase two of the project involved the integration of BAE Systems’ website with social media. We also included integrations with a number of widgets which could be reused across other sites on the platform, including: Brightcove, AddThis, Marketo, Google Maps and Google Analytics.

The third phase of the BAE Systems' site development was a launch of multi-lingual website versions to engage on a local level with customers and prospects around the world, with the first chosen language being Arabic. As well as building the Arabic website, Infomentum created a framework which would allow other multilingual sites to be rolled out with no additional development effort.

More recently, we've upgraded BAE Systems to Oracle WebCenter Sites.

Infomentum’s knowledge of Oracle WebCenter was second to none. We were confident that we would work together successfully on an ongoing basis.”
